(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: ~~-re95_nre
INSPECTION DATE: rninG/n5 INSPECTOR=S INITIALS: °Jw
OBSERVATIONS
This was a normal monitoring inspection conducted by Tony Waldron of DMG along with Danny Ausmus and
Jason Frieberger of Baca County. The site is located approximately 1 1 miles Northeast of Walsh, Colorado. The
pit is situated in on upland area immediately south of and adjacent to Bear Creek. There is a buffer of
undisturbed land between the active drainage channel and the permit boundary.
There was a mine identification sign present at the entrance to fhe mine site and the affected area was clearly
delineated. This site was converted from a 1 l Oc into a 1 12c in 2001. Much of area that was disturbed during
the 1 1 Oc mining operation lies along the north side of the permit area. This area was not reclaimed as mining
occurred, but could now be reclaimed as the active pit moves to the south, In this manner the pit could be
contemporaneously reclaimed as mining progresses further south by placing topsoil that is stripped in advance
of mining on the re-graded areas. Since it takes several years for grasses to re-establish in this area, this would
allow the majority of the pit to be in the final performance warranty release stage of reclamation once mining
is completed. Also, this would provide a better system for handling and preserving fhe topsoil resource.
Currently, the topsoil is placed in scattered stockpiles, however, if the topsoil is not replaced within one year of
salvage, it must be shaped and seeded with a temporary seed mix to protect it from wind and water erosion.
Placing it immediately over a re-graded area and seeding it with the final seed mix would eliminate this step.
Overall, the site was being mined and maintained in a very orderly manner. No problems were noted and this
concluded the inspection.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Spike Ausmus
OPERATOR: _ Baca Count
STREET: 741 Mnin Straat
CITY/STATE/ZIP: _ SpLgfialri C(7 R1073
cc T CE
C BL
I' FS
I' H W
I' HMWMD (CH)
T SE
I" WOCD (CH)
I' OTHER
