(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-1977-022
INSPECTION DATE 4-28-2004
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS SSS
This was a routine monitoring inspection conducted as part of DMG's ongoing monitoring program for permitted mines in
Colorado.
The reclamation cost estimate was not recalculated as part of this inspection. The current estimate was recalculated less than
three years ago and the operation is in compliance with the approved mine plan and reclamation plan. Therefore, the current
financial warranty is believed to be adequate to reclaim the site per the approved reclamation plan.
No significant erosional features were noted on the affected areas of the site.
The mine identification sign and affected area boundary markers are in place and in compliance with Rule 3.1.12
The previously noted infestation of Canada thistle, primarily located on the inslopes of the excavated on-site pond, appears to
be less vigorous, but still remains. Some whitetop is also noted primarily on the soil berms along Minnesota Creek. The
operator does implement an annual weed control plan that appears to be working. These observations are noted to help the
weed control personnel locate these patches.
The operator is continuing negotiations with a local river restoration group to transfer the instream portion of this pit to their
ownership. The current plan is to revise the permit to include the reclamation specifications proposed in the river restoration
master plan. These revisions are forthcoming when the river restoration group get the engineering and reclamation details
finalized with other agencies.
The pit is currently being used to stockpile processed material from the adjacent Four D Pit.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Steve Shuey at the Division of Minerals and Geology, Grand Junction
Field Office, 101 South 3rd Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, phone number 970-243-6368.
I & E Contact Address
NAME
OPERATOR
STREET
CITY/STATE/ZIP
Brent Kerr
Oldcastle SW Group.
