Alternatively, the operator may be able to construct
a pad with a catchment basin, a diversion ditch, and a sediment pond that will contain a 100-year
runoff event. The waste material could be piled on the pad and reclamation w~~uld include capping of
the waste pile. Mr. White stated that Cotter Corporation is planning to follow tha=.ir current plan of piling
waste material on the surface due to newer Department of Energy regulations requiring a survey upon
the completion of mining to determine whether the ore deposit has been mined out, prior to allowing
for the gobbing of waste material back into the mine.
9. The Department of Energy currently holds a financial warranty in the amount of X43,000.00, and the
Division has a financial warranty of $100.00 for the site. A bond calculation will be performed by the
Division to determine whether the current bond amounts are adequate for reclamation of the site. Ir
that it has not yet been determined whether the site will qualify for DMO status, :he bond calculation
will not be performed until this information is available.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Dick White
OPERATOR: Cotter Corporation
STREET: P (~ Rnx 7!)O
CITY/STATE/ZIP: uch,Cn R1d94
Cc: ^ CIE
^ Bl_
^ F:i
^ HW
^ HMWMD (CH)
^ SIE
^ WQCD (CH)
X Other: Harry Posey, DMG
