III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Sunlight C-1981-046
Pg 1/1 17 Nov 04
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations
made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during
the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a complete inspection of the Sunlight Mine conducted by Jim Stark of
CDMG. The permit for the site has been revoked and the reclamation was
completed by the Division. The weather was cool and cloudy and the ground was
covered with some snow.
Signs and Markers: The Division's revoked mine site sign was in place and in good
condition at the time of the inspection.
Hydrologic Balance: The sediment pond was dry at the time of the inspection
(although there was some snow at the bottom and on the embankment). The pond
embankment appeared to be stable at the time of the inspection. No erosional
problems were noted.
Backfilling >k Grading: The backfilled areas appeared to be stable at the time of the
inspection. There was no visible cracking, slumping, settling or sliding of the backfilled
areas at the time of the inspection.
Revegetation: All of the vegetation is dormant at this time. There does appear to be
enough cover, however, to control erosion.
Overall, the entire site appeared to be stable at the time of the inspection.
