III. COMMENTS • COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection, The comments include discusswn of observations made <br />dunng the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection <br />and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />This was a partial inspection conducted by Kent Gorham of the Colorado Division of Minerals <br />and Geology. This former underground mine was reclaimed and reseeded in 1996 and early <br />1997. An afternoon thunderstorm hit the area at about 4 pm but had moved on after about <br />15 minutes of hard rain, Ground conditions were wet and muddy. <br />Fish and Wildlife <br />A bear sow and single cub were observed in the river valley east of the reclaimed area along <br />the former railroad grade. They moved off into the timber to the south after a short time. <br />Revegetation <br />Chuck Florian of Greystone Environmental Consultants and his assistant Kory, were on-site <br />conducting vegetation sampling, On the 2151 they were sampling production and cover in the <br />Pond 3 reclaimed area. As plants were clipped they were bagged by life form and as <br />annuals or perennials. Production plots were being clipped on the right side of each transect <br />at the 2, 9, 12, 14, and 22 meter points along a 25-meter transect. Cover was being <br />
