full growing season for revegetation at these two ponds. The embankment length of the
newest pond. Middle Flume #3.was checked by pacing: the length was roughly 224 feet. The
embankment inslope was estimated to be 13.5 feet high.
Springs - The fallowing field parameters were measured at springs.
Spring Flor.estim Temp..degrees C Ec. mmhos pH
ated
Fox Den 5 gpm 10 1450
East Pyeatt 0.29 in 2" 7 1800 7.7
flume
No Name 10 gpm 8 2300
East 5 8 1400
Cottonwood
Fax Den Spring was found to discharge from an outcrop of travertine that previously has not
been reported. The travertine deposit covers the ground a few tens of feet outward from
the spring. The travertine is thinly bedded.milky white, calcium carbonate with an orange
(iron oxide?)stain. The travertine may indicate that Fox Den Spring, at least in the past,
has had a deeper source than the thin-bedded sandstone unit that also outcrops at this
location. The travertine appears to be intercalated with the sandstone. The sandstone i5
wihin the stratigraphic sequence being mined by Trapper a short distance uphill. The
source of Fox Den Spring is being considered in the update of Trapper's PHC. now in review.
Ground Water Monitoring Wells - The following wells had caps in place, were well-marked,
and surface casing was in good condition: GB 1, 2, and 5: GF-5. p-5, GD-3.: GC-1 and GC-2.
BACKFILL MID GRADING
No problems were found in the ash dump area.
EXPLOSIVES AND SUPPORT FACILITIES
No problems were found in the explosives storage magazine. The hazardous waste storage
area was in good order except for 4 full barrels that were outside the containment fence
and a grease barrel inside the fence that did not have a lid on it. The operator's
representative said the 4 barrels would be moved inside the fence and a lid will be put on
the open barrelright away.
GENERAL MINE PLAN COMPLIANCE
Draglines were operating at the south end of D-pit. in F-pit. and in A-South pit. A-East
pit remains open as the dragline in A-South pit will alernate between the two pits. There
were no more than two spoil ridges at each active pit. The areas stripped ahead of the
pits appears to comply with Trapper's approved operation plan.
AIR RESOURCE PROTECTION
On the first day of the inspection haul roads were drying out and wind started to blow dust
from North A-haul road, but Trappper's water truck came along and stopped the dust. At the
beginning of the second day of the inspection, Trapper was watering haul roads early in the
