Seneca II West Mine, p~. 2
Pond 14 at the former scraper pit was inspected and topsoil replacement is completed in this
watershed. The pond 13 watershed also has completed topsoil replacement.
The scraper fleet was replacing topsoil in the pond 12 watershed / former Valora Pit during the
inspection, and as noted above the area immediately above pond 12 remains to be graded to 3: ]
slopes and topsoiled. This reclamation will be completed this year. Pond 12 was filled to
capacity and discharging clear water.
We drove to the southeast end of the Wolf Creek Pit mining area and this entire area has been
final graded with topsoil replaced, and the drainway reconstructions remain. TR-29 contains the
approved drainway channel designs. This reclamation will be completed this year.
Mr. Boulay and Mr. Jones walked from the upper Annan Draw down to lower Annan Draw, and
we observed topsoil stockpiles, haulroad ditches and the sediment pond fed by Annan Draw.
These areas were stable. This completed the field inspection.
On June 23 Mr. Boulay and I conducted a thorough review of the mine permit files, and required
environmental monitoring records. The review included: the DMG permit expires August 2010,
TR-29 was approved June 2006 and contained revisions to the reclamation plan, the bond
document is current and at $5.2 million dollars exceeds the reclamation estimate, the annual
reclamation report is current and we reviewed some of the maps in it, pond and impoundment
certifications are available and recertified annually as required, and the NPDES quarterly
reporting requirement is current. This concluded the inspection.
Please address any questions concerning this report to Henry Austin, Senior Reclamation
Specialist, at haustin(c~osmre~o~v or to (303) 844-1400 x1466.
