III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection
and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was an aerial mine site inspection. The site was flown on 4-15-05. Harry Ranney of DMG recorded
9 oblique and near vertical still images, that were viewed by Dan Mathews of DMG on 5-5-05. The
images covered the entire disturbed area and adjacent areas at McClane Canyon Mine.
An on-the-ground inspection had been conducted at the mine site the day prior to the flight, and there
were no changes apparent with respect to sight conditions as described in the inspection report for the 4
14-05 inspection. Apparently there was no appreciable precipitation at the site between the two
inspections, as ditches, SAE sediment traps, and culvert inlet sumps remained dry.
There was no flow in McClane Creek, but East Salt Creek was flowing high with snowmelt runoff.
3
