Aerial
photographs were taken on February 20, 2003. The aerial photos were reviewed by Mike Boulay
of the DMG. Weather conditions were clear. With the exception of south facing slopes, the
majority of the mine site is snow covered. The dragline is visible operating in the Yoast South
Area. No other activity was noted at the site, at the time of the flight.
Haul Roads
Haul Roads A, B and D aze all visible in the photographs. Road ditches and road drainage
runouts aze partially snow covered. Haul roads are almost entirely free of snow and appeaz to
have been recently graded. Haul roads site wide appear to be in good condition. The explosives
storage azea located along Haul Road A is visible in the photographs. The site has been cleazed
of snow cover and appeazs to be well maintained.
Hvdrologic Balance
Sedimentation Ponds 010, 012, and 014 aze visible in the photographs. All of these
sedimentation ponds are retaining water at a level below the primary spillway. The pond
surfaces all appear to be frozen. The water level in Pond 010 is very low. No problems were
noted at any of the pond locations.
