(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: ~-iy77-S~~
INSPECTION DATE: 5.79-n3_ INSPECTORS INITIALS: -fly
OBSERVATIONS
The Division conducted a monitoring Inspection of the site, with the Division's weed expert, Mr. Tony Waldron, to
determine what the additional work the operator had to do on site, before requesting a release. When the site
was last inspected on 4-30-03, at the request of the operator, because of the difficulty they have controlling the
weed infestation due to adjacent areas, which appeared to be always Infested with weeds. At the time, the
Division informed them that the site will be re-inspected with the weed expert and he might have some solution
to the problem.
With Mark klune of TRANSIT MIX AGGREGATES present, the portion of the area that the operator would like to
have released from the permit area was inspected. As reported fn the last inspection, the site has been fn
reclamation since 1997. When the lake and embankment areas were released in 1999, the Division denied the
release of the areas in question due to lack of vegetation and weed infestation. At that time, the operator had
stated that even with their weed control plan in place, due to non- weed control in adjacent areas, it had been
difficult to properly control the weeds. Recent chemical application to control the weed was observed through
out the area. Tony agreed that the fact that the adjacent areas having weed infestation could hinder their area
but he stated that as long as a weed control plan is submitted to the Division and is in place, the Division would
not deny the release request even if some weed in the area is present. He informed the operator that the
Tamarisk, noted along the banks of the river, with in the permit area, could be leff as is, because removing it
could case more damage than is worth. He also suggested the operator to change the seed mix to more saline
adoptable mix. The operator stated that consultant Mr Mark HEFNER HAD TRIED DIFFERENT SEED MIXES IN TEST
PLOTS AND THE RESULTS WERE NOT THAi MUCH BETTER. However, offer receiving the inspection report he will ask
Mark to come up with a new seed mix that can tolerate the salt nature of the soil. PERMIT SIGN AND BOUNDARY
MARKERS WERE PROPERLY POSTED.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: MR JERRY HERMANS
OPERATOR: TRANSIT MIX AGGREGATES
STREET: P nBOX 9379
CITY/STATE/ZIP: c~i ~Ran~ sPRw~s, cn Rn9m
Harry Posey (e-mail)
cc: ^ CE
^ BL
^ FS
^ HW
^ HMWMD (CH)
^ SE
^ WQCD (CH)
^ OTHER
