III. COMMENTS - COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations
made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during
the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection conducted by Kent Gorham of the Colorado Division of
Minerals and Geology. The weather on this day was warm and mild. This former
underground mine is reclaimed. Some buildings remain as permanent for use by the
landowner.
Hydrologic Balance
The 100-year ditch above the refuse pile requires cleaning ~n the section behind
the shop building. Silt fence along the lower slope of the topsoil pile footprint
should be removed as it is no longer necessary or functional.
Revegetation
Dry conditions prevail at this site. Precipitation received at the nearby Rimrock
Mine apparently missed this area. the growing season is effectively over.
Grasses, fortis, and annual weeds have "dried down". Moisture prior to winter
would be beneficial.
Overall, the site appeared in average condition for the late summer season.
3
