1
III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the
inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a complete inspection of the Chimney Rock Coal Mine for the month of April, 1996.
The site was dry with no snow on the ground and no sigs of any recent rain.
The approximate .5 acre area on the southeast facing slope, above the Stolsteimer Creek repair
that was recently reseeded and mulched appears to be stable.
All ditches are clear and appear to be capable of functioning as designed. All slopes and
contour furrows appear to be stable at the time of the inspection.
All ponds and the sediment trap were dry and stable. With the exception of pond 2, none of the
ponds had a staff to indicate sediment storage levels and the staff in pond 2 did not have any
markings to indicate anything.
Records were inspected and found to be satisfactory with the exception that the quarterly pond
inspections could not be located. See page 5 of this report for more information.
