INSPECTION REPORT - PAGE 2
FILE N0. 79-45
DATE: January 11, 1985
OBSERVATIONS OF IMPORTANCE:

1. Large amount of piled material prevalent around south part of permit due
to pre-law activities for clay mining.
2. Most southern pit has accumulated water. Operator specified previous
mining activities in this area encountered ground water.
3. The irrigation ditch going through site has culvert installed to assist
in water movement and not be inhibited by mining activities.
4. Two DOE water monitoring wells located on east side of site.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
1. Due to the nature of the site and no natural delineation between
permitted and unpermitted areas, the operator should consider staking
the permit boundary.
2. Division encourages operator to definitely pursue amendment, as this
activity for sand and gravel operations will definitely clean up and
improve the area.
3. The operator needs to obtain as much information from DOE about
monitoring wells as possible and obtain an agreement pursuant to
Rule 1.56(5) of the Rules and Regulations.
/md
Doc. No. 6774
