CN-01 is a request to expand the permit area from 9.9 acres to
45 acres affected area, and to alter mine status to intermittently active. Mike Horner and Ken
Herman accompanied the DMG inspector throughout the inspection.
Signs & Markers -Mine identification sign, required by Rule 3.1.1211), was posted at the entrance
to the permit area. Permit boundary markers for the 1 10c permit were observed.
Facilities -Mine access road was well maintained. Mining related disturbances appeared to be
contained within approved areas. Haul trucks were being loaded with processed material, trucks
were hauling material off the permit area. Mining related equipment located on-site was limited to
1 front end loader and belly dump haul trucks. Processing equipment was not located on-site.
Material excavation and processing were not active during the time of this inspection.
Highwall appeared stable, approximately 2H:1 V slope and 50' high. Configuration of highwall
suggests that mining operation includes bulldozer pushing material down the highwall slope. Front
end loader relocates material from base of highwall to processing equipment and or to stockpile
area. Evidence of excessive erosion to the affected area or sediment transport off-site was not
observed.
Overhead power line was located at the NW corner of the expanded permit area. BLM fence was
observed within the NW corner of the expanded permit area. No additional permanent man made
structures were observed within 200' of the expanded permit boundary.
I & E Contact Address
NAME Mike Horner
OPERATOR San Miguel Countv
STREET P.O.
