NI-7777-1~na Vista Pit
Hard Rock Paving & Redi-Mix, Inc.
Dear aim:
As you and 1 have talked, Hazd Rock has retained me to help get their permit situation in line on their
3 pits in Chaffee County. Attached is a letter authorizing me to act as then agent in this process. The
owners want to get these things in line and spend then time producing and selling aggregate and
aggregate products. They have delegated this responsibility to Gary Reed who you have met. He
seems like a capable and willing man.
We toured the pit after I had a chance to review your inspection report. Work on the
Problems/Possible Violations is in progress. We would request an extension until December 1, 1998
to more thoroughly address the problems. However, a map copy is enclosed which should clear up
most of Item 1, except for marking the boundaries in the Seld. The affected azea is substantially less
than 10 acres at the present time.
I have just received the entire pit file printout which I will be reviewing and will also supply a copy
to Mr. Reed. After that review, it will be possible to determine the permit boundaries and acreage.
The requested extension will also give adequate time to construct the berm to sepazate and preserve
the topsoil stockpile. After these decisions have been made, a Financial Warranty will be proposed
to adequately cover the project. With present Financial Warranty requirements, I would agree that
the present $5,000 appears to be inadequate. This should be able to be done within the 60 days you
have allowed. After the amount is agreed on with the Boazd, it can be supplied by the operator within
the speciSed period.
"Your Erand of People"
