A site inspection was made of the Colorado Alabaster Supply quarry as part of the
Division's on-going 4-year inspection program. The quarry is located approximately 25 miles
northwest of Fort Collins. Present during the inspection was Stan Jones.
2. The Alabaster Supply quarry is permitted for a total of 2.0 acres. The operator has
posted a financial warranty of 51,500 in the form of a Certificate of Deposit. The post-
mining land use is rangeland.
3. Signs and markers have been adequately posted as required by Rule 3.1.12.
4. The current disturbance consists of 0.25 to 0.5 acres of affected land. The operator has
excavated into a south-facing hillside with a front-end loader to remove small blocks of
alabaster. Following excavation, the operator partially backfills quarried slopes to cover
any exposed alabaster. Reclamation of the disturbed area will require minor grading to
achieve slopes of 4:1, reapplication of 12" salvaged topsoil, and broadcast seeding (by
hand).
S. This inspector estimates a total reclamation cost of $1,000 to reclaim the current
disturbance and $1,500 to reclaim the total disturbance specified in the mining plan.
Therefore, the financial warranty is adequate.
6. No problems or concerns were noted.
I & E Contact Address
^ CE
NAME Stanley C. Jones ^ BL
OPERATOR Colorado Alabaster Sunoly ^ FS
STREET 1507 N.
