J
III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection
and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a complete inspection of the New Pryor Mine for the month of March, 1998.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE: Pond Z at the NW corner of the mine had <6" on water in it and was not
discharging. The trash rack has debrison top of the emergency spillway. The"upper and lower"
ponds were dry. The upper pond has a 10' diameter slump on the outslope. It appears to have
rotated about 3' down slope. As the pond does not hold very much water, even at maximum
capacity, it is doubtful that this slump will create a safety concern. No signs of any new erosion
could be seen from the contoured furrows that breeched in the past. Vegetation is very good on this
site, therefore, unless the site received numerous intense thunderstorms in succession, the site will
be recommended for a reduced inspection frequency of two times a year, late spring and mid to late
fall.
