._
INSPECTION REPORT - PAGE 2
FILE NO. M-82-90
DATE: October 15, 1985

OBSERVATIONS OF IMPORTANCE:
1. The inspectors were accompanied by Mr. Jim Points during this inspection.
2. The waste rock dump area was inspected. The waste rock was placed away
from the banks of Imogene Creek. The planned expansion of the waste
rock dump is toward the King Lease Tailings.
3. The seepage dam below the active tailings disposal area was inspected.
The dam crest was graded and the toe was rip-rapped as requested by
previous Division recommendations.
4. The outslope construction of the tailings was discussed. Mr. Points
stated that tailings pile outslopes will be constructed at 2H:1V. This
will meet with the recommendations of the submitted geotechnical
report. The 2H: 1V outslopes as opposed to steeper slopes, are more
suitable for establishing successful revegetation.
5. Seeding mixtures were discussed in that it may be best to establish test
plots on the topsoil (colluvium) stockpiles to determine the most
successful seed mi.zture for final reclamation. The inspectors state
that Ms. Camille Farrell could be contacted at CMLRD concerning seed
mixtures or test plots. Topsoil has been stockpiled on the northeast
extension of the tailings disposal area. See Recommendation No. 1.
6. The upper active tailings pond was inspected. The outslopes along
Snefels Creek/Canyon Creek exceed 2H:1V. Further construction of this
pile was discussed, in that the height is to be increased and the pile
is to be extended.
1. Drainage control along the road above the tailings dams were in need of
maintenance. The ditches have agrated from recent runoff. Ditches
should be maintained to avoid over topping and possible excess runoff or
drainage to the tailings disposal area. See Recommendation No. 2.
8. The Division appreciates Mr. Points' cooperation during this inspection.
