The catchment is adequate to
serve its intended purpose, but only if it ie regularly maintained. This will be a regular
inspection item for the Division until the topsoil has been moved to its long-term stockpile.
Placement of drain cover fill on the south aide of the phase 1 pad began at about 7s00 p.m.
There was one QA person from Golder and two laborers working at the toe of the fill in order
to assure oversize removal and to work out wrinkles in the geomembrane prior to burial.
Trucks were dumping drain cover at the top of the elope and a DBN was spreading the material
down the elope. The operator was informed that the laborers should be provided with better
lighting, including fresh batteries for their flash lights, and should be provided with tools
that would allow them to break up agglomerated material. Also, the laborers need to be
provided with enough buckets to store the oversize rocks removed. One bucket per laborer ie
clearly insufficient.
I left the site at approximately 9:00 p.m., then returned to observe drain cover placement
from the Highway 67 over Look from 10:30 to 11:00 p.m. The laborers and QA person were
obeerved through field glasses to be in place and performing the required functions.
cc: Berhan Keffelew
Jim Pendleton
Carl Mount
I 6 E Contact Addreae
~ CE
NAME John Hardaway ~ BL
OPERATOR Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Co. ~ FS
STREET P.O.
