III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made <br />during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection <br />and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />This was a partial inspection of the Hamilton Mine conducted on October 9, 2007 by Mike <br />Boulay of the DRMS. There was no representative from Honeywood Coal Company present <br />during the inspection. Weather conditions were sunny and warm. There was no activity at the <br />mine site during the inspection. <br />l~drologic Balance <br />Sedimentation Ponds A and B were inspected. Both ponds were dry. Pond inlets and discharge <br />structures at both locations were in good condition. Pond embankments were stable and well <br />vegetated. No problems were noted at either of the sediment ponds. <br />Roads <br />Roads were dry and in relatively good condition. Roads leading to Mine Area 1 and to Mine <br />Area 3 appeared to be dry and well maintained. The access roads to Ponds A and B were <br />maintained. Culverts were clear of sediment and debris and capable of functioning as intended. <br />Reclamation Success <br />No significant erosion features were noted in the reclaimed areas. Vegetation at the site is <br />browning up. The site appears stable with no problems noted. <br />
