Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during
the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection of the Hayden Gulch Mine conducted by Jim Stark of
CDMG. The mine site is reclaimed. The weather was cold and overcast and there
were several inches of snow and drills on the ground. Only the two shrub parcels
that are immediately off the county road were accessible.
Signs and Markers: All of the permit boundary and mine ID signs were posted. The
fences around the two shrub parcels that were accessible were in good condition
and marked.
Roads: The access roads to the shrub parcel areas were covered with snow. There
were large (about three-foot) berms of snow that have been made by snowplows
that make access to the gates (in a vehicle) impossible,
Hydrologic Balance: -Pond 003 contained water but was not discharging, The pond
appeared to be stable at the time of the inspection.
- Pond HG-8 also contained water. This pond was not discharging either. The pond
appeared to be stable at the time of the inspection.
Fish and Wildlife: No wildlife was observed at the site during this inspection but there
were signs of elk around the site and a herd of about 50 was seen about'/z-mile
away.
Reveaetation/Reclamation Success: The two shrub parcels that were accessible
were covered with snow so it was not possible to ascertain their condition at the time
of the inspection.
Slides and Damage: The steel stakes that have been placed across the slump area
were not accessible at the time of this inspection.
