<br />• (Page 2) <br />MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID # M-77-326 <br />INSPECTION DATE 1/7/99 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS AJW <br />OBSERVATIONS <br />This inspection was conducted as a result of an application for a succession of operator and <br />transfer of permit from Adience, Inc. to Robinson Brick Company. The site is located <br />approximately 25 miles southwest of Pueblo, Colorado and just off of Siloam Road. The mine <br />is situated on top of a Dakota sandstone formation of the type that forms some of the mesas <br />further east and south. The area is not to steep and slopes to the north where a small <br />drainage has been cut through the sandstone formation. Approximately 1/2 mile to the east <br />is a very significant drainage known as Owl Canyon. <br />This site has been mined for clay for many years and has been permitted with DMG since 1977. <br />The clay deposit lies just below the sandstone which is approximately 20 feet thick. In the <br />past another mine operator has worked with Adience to remove and market the stone overburden. <br />This relationship may continue once the transfer is complete. The affected area consists of <br />three disconnected pieces including two small product stockpiles and a larger irregularly <br />shaped piece that is more or less longer than wider. The active pit area is approximately <br />700 feet long with spoil on the back (west) side and the pit bottom and highwall running down <br />the center and advancing to the east. There is a large topsoil stockpile on the northern end <br />of the permit area. The site is properly marked with t-posts and there was an identification <br />sign at the mine entrance. No reclamation has occurred at this site as it is really in a <br />mid-life production status, The financial warranty for this site is $28,000.00, which is <br />adequate to cover the reclamtion liability.
