III. COMMENTS - COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of
observations made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement
actions taken during the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the
enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection conducted by Kent Gorham of the Colorado
Division of Minerals and Geology. Ron Thompson represented Basin
Resources during the inspection. This former underground mine is now
reclaimed. Activities consist mainly of monitoring and maintenance.
Ground conditions on this day were dry and the weather was mild.
Revegetation
Vegetation is in the very early stages of growth for the coming season.
Cicer milkvetch sprouting was noted and cool season grasses are showing
signs of growth. The NW-1 fan site (Tatum fan) has been mulched and
seeded. Winds have blown the mulch around to some extent but mulch cover
is relatively good. Straw bales have been located along the northeast
corner of this reclaimed area for temporary sediment control. No
sprouting of seeded species was observed at this location.
Subsidence
The portal area shows continued signs of settlement. A small settlement
crack was noted bordering the small depression that measures about 30
feet square. Filling or grading of this area will likely be necessary
until settlement ceases to ensure proper drainage.
The site appears in excellent condition for early spring.
Page 3
