INSPECTION REPORT - PAGE 2
FILE N0. M-78-305
DATE: June 25, 1985
OBSERVATIONS OF IMPORTANCE:
1. Some mulching, seeding and grading of areas near from gate had been
done. Growth was quite sparse in this area.
2. Topsoil material southwest of Phase I pit area was stabilized by
planting, but steep slopes of this material was allowing it to slump and
erode to a limited extent.
3. The site was generally clean and in good order. The pit is obviously
worked from time to time rather than continuously.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
1. Continue to monitor revegetated area and replant it, as necessary.
2. Regrade topsoil material to southwest of Phase I pit area to a gentler
slope (e.g., 2H:1V) and replant it to stabilize it against erosion.
This should be accomplished this fall.
3. No other activities in the pit appear to be at variance with the permit
or the Rules and Regulations. This appears to be a clean, well-run
mining operation.
MSL/mis
2446E

~~~ ,~
