c

III. Comments/Compliance
This was a partial inspection conducted by Jim Burnell of CDMG on the afternoon of
Wednesday, December 4, 2002. This site was quiet and deserted. The weather was cool
and sunny.
At the East Mine, the area below the road that was amended last year, vegetation was
brown. There is a reasonable cover. The roughed surface has allowed for retention of water
and the preservation of small microclimates which has aided the growth of the vegetation.
There was no evidence of erosion at the bottom of the slope.
The road ditches were mostly dry. The road itself was in good condition. One of the
culverts beneath the road is plugged. The area above the road showed no evidence of
instability or erosion.
At the Middle Mine, there is good vegetation both above and below the road, although it is
dormant for the year. There were no signs of erosion or instability that haven't been there
before.
At the West Mine, the vegetation is excellent, with thick grasses and numerous shrubs.
The pond was dry. Pond embankments were stable. The bottom of the pond was wet. The
remnants of straw bales remain on the top of the bank by the river, but there was no
evidence of siltation escaping from the site.
