III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observafions <br />made during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during <br />the inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />This was a partial inspection conducted by Janet Binns of CDMG. The weather at the time of the inspection was <br />raining steadily. Summer growing season has been unusually dry. Entire state has been declared, in drought <br />conditions. Current precipitation was first the area had received in a long time. <br />Signs & Markers : Mine LD, signs remain posted, legible and contains required information. <br />Hydrologic Balance: No runoff was occurring in spite of the steady rain. No water is held in the pond. No <br />runoff was flowing in the collection ditch. No erosional features were observed. <br />Reve eg tation: Cover on the reclaimed mine site is good. Bromegrass is dominant. Some annual and biennial, <br />Wooly mullein, weeds are present but not toxic to livestock. Cattle have been fenced out of the mine site and <br />have effectively been kept from grazing on the reclaimed site this summer.. <br />Slides: No new movement of the rock fall was noted. <br />Reclamation success: The entire state has been subject to a drought this summer. The reclaimed mine shows <br />good cover though visually dominated by one species. Species normally seen in the reclaimed community may <br />have dried up early do to the unusual conditions this year. The vegetation does not appear to have been killed off <br />by the extreme weather condition. Recovery of the vegetative community in the spring will be visually assessed <br />by DMG. <br />
