III. COMMENTS - COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of
observations made during the inspection. Comments also describe any
enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the facts or evidence
supporting the enforcement action.
This was an aerial inspection flown on July 16, 1998. The four photographs
taken were examined on July 20, 1998. The ground appeared dry.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE
Sedimentation Ponds
Both ponds appeared full of water. The ponds' embankments and inslopes
appeared stable, and no gullies were evident.
With the exception of the slump area (see following discussion), the
reclaimed areas appeared to have good vegetative cover that is just
beginning to brown up.
SLIDES AND DAMAGE
The work appears to have been completed in the slump area in the
southeastern portion of the reclaimed pit area. This work was approved in
MR-13. During last month's inspection a trench had been excavated. Now, the
trench has been backfilled and the area has been regraded leaving an area
of bare soil. All equipment has been removed from the site. There was no
sign of movement on the slump.
The scarp near coordinates N377,000; E1,498,750 appears in one of the
photographs as it was described in last month's inspection report. It
appears to indicate minor settling along the hillslope and does not appear
to represent significant ground instability.
- 3-
