This office
attempted to contact the operator by phone; a voice mail message was left notifying the operator of the inspection date.
There was no activity at the site and the operator was not present during the inspection.
The site was identified by the required permit ID sign posted at the entrance to the site. The existing disturbed area is limited to
the SW portion of the permitted area, and all activity apFiears to be contained within the permit boundaries. The tall slope in the
SW corner of the disturbed area has a gradient of about 3:1, indicating it has been rough graded for reclamation, or perhaps
the aggregate is mined by dozing material down the slope. The top of this slope is approaching the permit boundary, and the
operator should verify that future mining or reclamal.ion activity remains inside the boundary. There is still significant
undisturbed area to the N, NE and E of the existing pit.
There was no processing equipment at the site. Earthnioving equipment noted onsite consisted of a dozer and loader. No fuel
is stored onsite. Mining is proceeding in an orderly mariner and the site is kept free of debris, parts and contaminants. There
were no noxious weeds noted. There was a small pile of waste asphalt in the pit.
Recent stormwaters appear to be well contained onsite water was impounded in 2 or 3 depressions in the various parts of the
pit, as well as in the stormwater pond lying to the E of the pit near the natural drainageway.
Topsoil is stripped ahead of mining. The topsoil is stockpiled on the E side of the pit. (The sign identifying the topsoil pile was
down, and the operator may wish to re-post it.) The topsoil pile had a few annual weeds but mainly volunteer vegetation.
There were many deer tracks noted on the site.
No further items were observed during the inspection. f3esponses to this inspection report should be directed to the Division of
Reclamation, Mining and Safety, 701 Camino del Rio, F:oom 125, Durango, Colorado 81301, Attn: Bob Oswald; phone no. 970-
247-5193.
I & E Contact Address cc: Tony Waldron, DRMS
^ CE
NAME Curtis Stone ^ BL
OPERATOR Fremont Countv Road and Br doe ^ FS
STREET 615 Macon Ave. .
