A site inspection was made of the Stagecoach Pit located 3 miles south of Brighton in
Adams County. The site has not yet been disturbed by mining. The site is currently being
used for agriculture.
2. There was no evidence of an entrance sign or affected land boundary markers as required
by Rule 3 .1.12 . The Division requests that the operator post an entrance sign and mark the
affected land boundary within 60 days in order to bring the site into Compliance with Rule
3 .1.12 . Please see page 3 for corrective actions.
3 . There was no evidence of noxious weeds present at the site.
4. Mr. Turnipseed indicated that Western Mobile Premix, Inc. intends to maintain the current
mining and reclamation permit even though there are no immediate plans for disturbance.
5. The operator has permitted the site for a total of 52.4 acres and has posted a financial
warranty of $19,680 in the form of a Corporate Surety. The post-mining land use specified
on the permit application form is agriculture. However, the mining and reclamation plan
specifies creation of a wet pit which will be reclaimed to a lake with surrounding area
revegetated with trees, shrubs, and grasses. Therefore, the Division will calculate a
current reclamation cost, within the next 60 days, based on the existing mining and
reclamation plan and will advise the Mobile Premix Concrete, Inc. of any necessary changes.
Please note that an approved augmentation plan and well permit will be required from the
Office of the State Engineer to mitigate for evaporative loss prior to exposure of ground
water at the pit. (Please see attached correspondance) . A review of the permit file does
not indicate that this requirement has been met. Please respond within the next 60 days with
a copy of correspondance indicating that the requirements of the Office of the State Engineer
for evaporative loss have been met for the Stage Coach Pit. Otherwise, the Division will
calculate a reclamation cost for the pit based on backfilling with inert material to at least
2 feet above the ground water level.
I & E Contact Address cc: Carl Mount, DMG
❑ CE
NAME Julie Goettemoeller ❑ BL
OPERATOR Mobile Premix Concrete Inc ❑ FS .
STREET 1590 W. 12th Avenue ❑ HW
CITY/STATE/ZIP Denver, CO 80204 ❑ HMWMD (CH)
❑ SE
Attachment ❑ WQCD (CH)
❑ OTHER
