III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made <br />during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the <br />inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />A partial inspection of the Hawk's Nest Mine was conducted by <br />Christine Johnston. of the Division. The mine is a bond forfeiture <br />site. <br />Hydrologic Balance <br />Culverts and ditches inspected are in good repair and should <br />function as designed. The section of ditch where the group of hay <br />bales that are located upstream from the inlet to the sediment pond <br />is beginning to get full but the bales are still in good shape, and <br />the ditch should function adequately. The channel lining located <br />on the east mine appears to be functioning well. The upper <br />portions of the channel have more vegetation than the lower <br />portions. <br />Backfill & Grading <br />The backfilling repairs made to th <br />west mines were inspected and apps <br />problems were noted. However, t <br />some minor regrading as there is <br />repair which could potentially hi <br />problems in the future. These areas include, around the east portal <br />repair, on the south side of the road at the east mine, and west <br />mine portal area. <br />Slides and Damaae <br />There is a slump located adjacent to the old highway at the east <br />mine on the north side of the road. It is located to the west of <br />the culvert which takes spring flow under the road and down the <br />lined channel. The slump is still very wet and the water is <br />flowing across the road and down through the reclamation.
