ORIGINAL -PUBLIC FILE
(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M_laan_lee
INSPECTION DATE: ~,/~~/Q6 INSPECTOROS INITIALS: ~,i~
OBSERVATION
The Division conducted a site visit inspection of the area at the request
of the operator, while in the area looking at one of their pits at their
request ( M1997-087). Mr. Cochran asked if it was possible to look at the
site, because the operator plans to conduct reclamation once the exiting
stockpile is removed from site. The file was not reviewed prior to the
inspection; this was just a cursory inspection of the site. The site is a
large 112 sand and gravel operation that was permitted by Western Mobile
Southern, and succeeded by Lafarge. According to Mr. Cochran, other than
removal of material from already existing piles, by the county, there are
no plans to mine in the area.
A quick cursory drive and walk around of the permit area was conducted. The
county was actively removing material from the already stockpiled processed
material at the time of the inspection. An infestation of Tamarisk was
noted. Mr. Cochran wanted some input on how to best remove the Tamarisk
from the site. He was provided with a telephone 3 for the Division's wee
expert Mr. Tony Waldron. Tony plans to meet the operator on site to assist
them in the removal of the Tamarisk. Note: When site was approved, Tamarisk
was not listed as a noxious weed.
1 & E Contact Address
NAME: ERICK RECKENTINE
OPERATOR: LAFRGE WEST INC
STREET: 10170 CHFRnKFF RARCHWAY S 900
CITY/STATE/ZIP: _ WESTMINSTER.
