Page 2/2 Deserado C-81-018 <br />16 June 2004 <br />Hydrologic Balance (cont.): -Pond DP-1 contained water at a level just below the <br />discharge pipe. The pond was discharging from the small weep-hole in the primary <br />discharge pipe. The pond embankment was well vegetated and appeared to be <br />stable. There were no erosional problems on the pond embankment. The <br />emergency spillway was well maintained and stable. <br />-The roadside ditches along the mine access road and the haul road to the refuse <br />pile appeared to be stable and well maintained. <br />- The fresh-water lagoon was observed from CR-64. The pond was well maintained <br />and stable at the time of the inspection. <br />Processing Waste: -Refuse Pile RP-2/3/4 appeared to be stable at the time of the <br />inspection. <br />-Stockpiling refuse on pile RP=Sa has stopped. The operator has not yet started to <br />spread the stockpiled refuse. The stockpile is in the same place it was last year, on <br />the southeast portion of the pile. Scott indicated that the task of spreading the refuse <br />has gone out to bid. The pile appeared stable and no water was pooling on the <br />surface. <br />- Refuse Pile RP-1 was well vegetated and stable at the time of the inspection. <br />Proposed Disturbance Sites: - We walked the proposed water line relocation site (MR- <br />127) as part of the BLM's EA and did not find and problems related to wildlife or <br />vegetation. It is believed that the BLM will approve this revision in its entirety. <br />- We also visited all 11 proposed exploration sites and walked all proposed new <br />roads. There were only two sites that were of minor concern to the BLM with regards <br />to wildlife (specifically to the prairie dog population). The BLM asked BME to move <br />proposed exploration hole M approximately 15 yards east, away from potential <br />prairie dog mounds. This was done while we were at the site. The BLM also asked <br />BME to move proposed exploration hole L approximately 10 yards west, for the same <br />reason. This, too, was done while we were at the site. It is expected that BLM will <br />approve BME's NOI in its entirety. <br />
