Two areas of Spring of 1997 seeding were inspected. One, and azea of approximately 5
acres, is located in the vicinity of State Plane Coordinate System (used on all Colowyo maps)
N347300 E1354200. The second area, of approximately 14 acres, is a rectangle in the vicinity of
N335000 to N336300 and EI351000 to E1350000 (this second area is indicated on Exhibit ]0,
2/21/97, as a "no seed" area.
The inspection procedure was visual (no transects, etc.). A good germination was apparent.
Compliance is considered good, even though brush densities are not what they should be.
Protected brush sites and test plots were visited. The differences between protected brush areas
and unprotected areas are dramatic (elk and deer keep shrubs down in unprotected areas). Brush
densities were much higher in the protected enclosures.
