Mr. Jim Coney, County Extension
Agent/Director Huerfano County, sent a letter to the Division, about some
concerns about the pit. In the letter he stated that the site had a large
infestation of Knapweed in addition to being utilized as house hold waste
disposal site.
On 10/4/06, with Mr. Goemmer present, the site was walked and inspected. As
reported in the letter, there was some infestation of Knapweed noted with
in the permit area. In addition, there was a large stockpile of house hold
waste LOACTED ALONG THE South side of the permit area. There were
approximately 7 old cars scattered in the area along with the house hold
waste. Mr.Goemmer stated that the house hold waste was being placed by Mr.
Pete Mccocclum, who was placing tree debris at the time of the inspection.
Mr. Goemmer was informed that the DRMS approved permit does not allow him
to place any kind of none mine waste in the permit area and that all none
mine waste has to be removed from the permit no later than February 4,2007.
If at that time the items are not removed from site, the Division will have
no choice but to calculate the needed financial warranty to remove the
house hold trash from the site to an approved waste disposal area. The
current warranty for the site which is $11,000.00 will not be adequate to
cover the removal of house hold waste from the site.
As for the Knapweed infestation Mr. Goemmer agreed to spray the site with
what was suggested by Mr. Tony Waldron, the DRMS'S WEED GURU as soon as
possible.
During the last inspection the permit boundary markers were sited as a
possible problem which appeared to be the case this time. There were some
markers noted but given the adjacent 111 permit operated by Western Mobile,
it was very difficult to tell where the 111 permit began and the 110 permit
commences. Mr. Goemmer agreed to have the area surveyed and place the
appropriate boundary markers prior to any mining activity commencing in the
area.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: JACQUE GOEMMER
OPERATOR: L.OTO GOEMMER
STREET: P_(~_Br)X 165
CITY/STATE/ZIP: I A VFTA C(7 R7n.55
cc: t CE Mr.Jim Coney
I' BL
t FS
t HW
t HMWMD (CH)
I'
I' SE
I' WOCD (CH)
t OTHER
CERTIFIED MAIL receipt # 70031680000064279490
