ORIGINAL -PUBLIC FILE
(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: nn_Ie~a-~~~
INSPECTION DATE: 8L'~I /nX INSPECTOROS INITIALS: --81~
OBSERVATION
The Division conducted a monitoring inspection of the site as part of sites
to be inspected during the fiscal years 2006-2007. The site is a large 230
acre, 112 sand and gravel operation located approximately 3 miles west of
Manzenolla, Colorado. Present during the inspection was Mr.Kenneth Parker,
supervisor road and Bridge for Otero County.
Site was amended in 2000 from 18.49 acres to 230, however the disturbed
acres had not increased significantly, since the site was amended. Durinq
the last inspection the only possible problem noted was a small berm that
was washed out along the south side of the permit, which at that time, the
permit acres was only 19. Since the amendment, the area that was noted to
be affected, in the inspection report, was included in the expanded permit
area of 230 acres.
With in the permit area is a power line and a water storage tank is
present. Both areas have a buffer distance of more than 200 feet from the
mining area and are clearly marked. There was a lot of processed stockpiled
material through out the active mining area. An adequate berm had been
constructed around the south western portion of the pit to protect runoff
from leaving the site. Adequate permit boundary markers and sign were
posted.
Overburden/ top soil was properly stockpile along the east side of the
permit area. Top soil appeared well protected and stable. No noxious weed
infestation noted.
Site was not active at the time of the inspection. According to Mr. Parker
the only activity on site is removal pf material from already stockpile and
process piles. Fresh sign of material removal was noted from one of the
stockpiled materials along the South West side.
I & E Contact Address
I' BL
NAME: KEN PARKER T FS
t HW
OPERATOR: OTERO COUNTY I' HMWMD NCH)
STREET: a_~ a~x 511 r
t SE
CITY/STATE/ZIP: i a uwln, cn RinSn r WOCD (CH)
t OTHER
CC:
cc: I' CE
