Blasting Plan
The Beaver Creek Mine (permit # M-1977-322)
This plan is intended to present guidance, control, data and information that
will serve the Beaver Creek Mine of Summit brick & Tile Co. Shooting at this
site should follow these procedures, limiting charge size, number of shot holes,
and the recommended controls. Below is a general list of controls and
procedures which Summit Brick's blasting contractor will follow.
1. A licensed blasting contractor, who is qualified and
maintains the expertise in all phases of the work, will
conduct blasting.
2. The blasting contractor will be entirely responsible for
supplying, storage, and handling of all blasting
materials, in addition, he will maintain the security,
traffic control if blasting within 1000 ft. of any public
road as prescribed within this document.
3. There will be no shooting within 50 feet of a buried
phone line, or within 100 ft. of public Road, and 750 ft.
of a paved State Road 9.
4. Size and charge set for each shoot will comply with the
"8- millisecond rule" or other timing delay which
meets standards, and use less thanl4 lbs. of explosive
agents.
5. There may be small limited amounts of blasting
materials, which are stored on site, however, these
will be stored in approved powder magazine storage
units.
6. All shot holes will be stemmed (covered) with a
minimum of 2 ft. of dirt on holes less than 15 feet
deep, and 3 ft. of dirt on holes that are greater than 15
feet deep, prior to any shot being set off.
