(Page 2}
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-1995-005
INSPECTION DATE: 6-3-04
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS GRM
This inspection was conducted as part of the normal monitoring program established by the Colorado Division of
Minerals and Geology. The Orchard Mesa Aggregates Pit is a ] 12c permitted site located southwest of Grand
Junction, Colorado near the Mesa County Landfill. Mountain Region representative Sandra DuCray was present for
the inspection.
The mine identification sign and affected azea boundazy markers are in place and incompliance with Rule 3.1.12.
The sign is located at the entrance to the Mesa County mulch facility, which shares access to the azea. Boundaries
include mesa edges and fence lines that clearly delineate the permit azea.
The mine site is active with small stockpiled materials within the pit. No equipment was present at this time. There
are several small highwalls the highest being 10 to 15. feet in height. Mining has avoided the power pole in the pit
area, which has an island with 3:1 slopes that appear stable. All activities appear to be following the approved
Mining Plan.
Topsoil is stockpiled,on the northern side of the permit area. There is some vegetation helping protect it from
erosion. Trespassers on motorcycles have created a trail over the pile. The operator is making a good faith effort to
close off access and protect the topsoil.
No erosion, sedimentation or stormwater issues were noted at this time. The operator has no hazazdous materials or
waste stored within the pit at this time.
At this time, no noxious weeds or plants aze present. The operator should note, that due to declarations by the
Governor and recent changes in the law, tamarisk must be eradicated from any active site prior to a release request.
Please keep this in mind when addressing weeds on this site.
The Division holds a reclamation bond for $43,970.00. The bond was recalculated in December of 2001 by staff.
No major changes at the site warrant an update at this time.
No problems or other issues aze noted at this time.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Russ Means at the Division of Minerals and Geology, Grand Junction
Field Office, 101 South 3rd Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, phone no. 970-241-1117.
18 E Contact Address cc:
^ CE
NAME: Sandra DuCrav ^ BL
OPERATOR: Mountain Region Corporation ^ FS
STREET: 117 29'/.
