(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-1984-001
INSPECTION DATE: 3-13-07
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS GRM
This inspection was conducted as part of the normal monitoring program established by the Colorado Division of
Reclamation, Mining and Safety for permitted sites. The permitee, Parkerson Construction has requested an
inspection to verify proper sloping has been accomplished per the Reclamation Permit.
The inspector notes that the operator has used large amounts of generated materials from the north area to
supplement fill material for the southern portion of the permit. The material is fines that have a road base like
quality although it may hold a little less clay than true road base. The inspector has noted that compaction of the
slopes in the south area was primarily done by loaded trucks as lifts were constructed. A dozer shaped the slopes to
2:1 and blended the top into the natural topography very well. The slopes are smooth which could present some
erosion issues if vegetation does not take quickly. However, dozer tracks on the slopes do create micro divets that
may reduce this risk.
The north area has 2 distinct parts. The west azea is the location of the primary excavation. Parkerson has removed
the loose materials from the base of the blasted face down to native rock. The face has been reviewed in the past
and was the subject of scrutiny by several agencies. The final disposition was acceptance of its stability after the
former permit holder submitted engineering data for review and did some loose materials removal. The second
portion is the waste pile and footprint on the east side. Slopes here were observed at 2:1 where re-established. The
operator has removed all deposited waste rock back to native material. A clear contact line can be observed as the
native materials are red in nature and the deposited material is gray granite type. In several areas the underlying
native rock has been re-exposed. Large boulders and rock outcroppings appear to be greater than 2:1 slope but this
is native deposition or solid rock and appears to be extremely stable. A natural drainage from the above cap rock has
been re-established. An initial sedimentation may occur as loose materials were observed azound the solid rock, but
the channel cascades down several rock embankments that reduce the Force of water. It appears the sedimentation
from this area will be caught on site at the bottom.
Overall, the sloping appears to meet the requirements of the approved plans for deposited materials and where the
slopes are greater it is due to natural rock outcroppings which have been incorporated into the contouring nicely.
The inspector noted some seeding has taken place and the operator's representative noted that more was to be done
shortly.
No issues are noted at this time.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Russ Means at the Division of Reclamation, Mining and
Safety, Grand Junction Field Office, 101 South 3rd Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, phone no.
970-241-1117.
I & E Contact Address cc:
^ CE
NAME: Allen Pazkerson ^ BL
OPERATOR: Parkerson Construction ^ FS
STREET: 710 S. 15d' Street ^ HW
CITY/STATE/ZIP: Grand Junction.
