III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the
inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was an partial aerial inspection of the Trinidad Basin Mine for the month of July, 1996.
There appears to be little change since the last inspection. Slopes appear to be relatively stable
but signs of rills and gullies are visible throughout the site. Most of these erosion sites have
been there for an extended period of time and unless they deteriorate rapidly, they will not be
bothered with. At the next inspection, a gully that is located at the first bend in the road on the
north side of the mine site will to be inspected to determine if it requires additional riprap.
Recent rains have filled most of the ponds but none seemed to have discharged. All the ponds
appear to be stable.
The revegetation has improved a little since the early spring drought.
