III. Comments -Compliance
This was a complete inspection conducted by Tom Kaldenbach of CDMG. The Hawk's
Nest Mine is a revoked/forfeited mine permit that has been reclaimed since 1995, with
additional reclamation work since that time. A proposal by the Division to reduce the
inspection frequency is in the 30-day public comment period. The proposed frequency is
one complete and three partial inspections each year, conducted quarterly.
No one else was present during the inspection. The ground was drying out from rain that
fell in the previous two days. No changes were found on the site compared to the
previous month's inspection.
Signs and Markers
No signs or markers are on this revoked site.
Roads
No roads exist on the site that are associated with the mine.
Hvdroloaic Balance
The pond and ditches were reclaimed several years ago. Signs of accelerated erosion
(e.g., gullies, sediment fans) were not evident.
Slides and Damage
No slope instability was evident on the hillslope along the north side of the road.
Reclamation Success
Vegetative cover appeared good at both the East and West Mine.
