III COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection
and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection of the Marr Mine conducted on June 30, ?000 by Mike Boulay of
the DMG. Jim Mossman representing Kerr Coal Company was present during the inspection.
Weather conditions were clear and warm. Ground conditions were dry throughout the majority
of the site.
Roads
Road surfaces were dry and all areas of the mine site were accessible. Road ditches were
generally well maintained and clear of sediment and debris.
Hvdrolosic Balance
Site seditentation ponds were inspected. Ponds A, B, D, E, and F were retaining water at the
time of the inspection. None of these ponds were discharging. Ponds C, and G were dry. There
were no problems noted with pond embankments, inlets, or discharge structures at any of the site
sedimentation ponds.
Reclamation Success
Reclaimed areas of the mine site appear to be stable and in good condition. Cattle were recently
grazed within the reclaimed Pit 1 azea. Cattle were not present during the inspection. Vegetation
is becoming well established at the Pit 1 location.
Erosion is occurring on the revegetated area southeast of the shop facility. Rills and gullies have
formed in the newly regraded area. Please take measures necessary to prevent further erosion of
the regraded area at this location.
