INSPECTION REPORT - PAGE 2
FILE N0. M-82-020
DATE: July 16, 1986
OBSERVATIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS:
1. Mr. Gydessen Reiterated that the cyanide circuit is not utilized at the
present time; Mr. Gydessen will contact the Division upon reinstatement
of the cyanide circuit, if ever.
2. The topsoil stockpile had bee removed from the toe of the tailings pond
berm to an area above (SW)~the tailings pond.
Weeds were observed covering the topsoil; perennial species may need to
be reseeded on the topsoil stockpile, as none were observed from the
previous seeding.
3. The "cyanide" pond and tailings pond berms outslopes were successfully
revegetated with perennial species.
4. A diversion ditch was constructed below (north of) the cyanide pond to
route possible pond overflow into the tailings pond. The access road
may need to be raised at its intersection with the diversion ditch to
assure possible pond over flow into the tailing pond rather than down
the road. This road acts as an upland diversion for the "cyanide pond".
5. The fenced cyanide pond exhibited secure, well maintained liners and a
freeboard of approximately 8.5 feet.
6. Waste rock was being dumped at the upper reach (south) of the tailing
pile. Some rock was placed over topsoil. This should be avoided in the
future, as the permit specifies topsoil salvage prior to disturbance.
7. Barrels with unknown contents were stored northwest of the mill building
and southwest of the cyanide pond. The permit specifies that barrels
will be triple rinsed, crushed and disposed of in an approved landfill.
Chemical barrels should be stored in a sheltered building or atop
pallets in a bermed area.
8. Equipment is stored east of the mill building/cyanide pond. Please
review the acreage disturbed to ensure disturbance is within the
permitted acreage (6). If greater than 6 acres,an amendment increasing
the permitted "affected land" boundary requires submittal.
9. The site is we1T maintained.
9. A E5,000.00 bond is maintained for the site.
10. If you have any question please do not hesitate to contact me.
/vj r
0086E
