Sufficient drainage was not being provided for
this road (see section ZV on status of problem resolution).
4.04 Support Facilities
No support facilities at or near the mine site are by Sun Coal. Therefore this section
does not apply.
9.05 Hydrologic Balance
The diversion ditch system above and around the portal area is still a problem for many
~s~~~
areas are not being maintained to~,proper flow of water. This problem has been noticed
in many previous inspection reports datiny back to July, 1981. In the November, 1981
inspection report a compliance date of February 1, 1982 was set for cleaning up this
problem. On December 7, 1981 Mr. Canning called requesting an extension of this deadline
due to excessive snow at the mine site. During this inspection of December 9 no snow
was apparent on the hillside in question, therefore, the deadline of February 1, 1982
still stands unless the operator can provide sufficient proof that providing maintenance
of the drainage system for the mine is impossible at this time. See section IV for
further discussion.
A 10' pile of road scrapings has been piled at the inlet of culvert C-3 where the portal
access road intersects the County road. This is not an appropriate place for stockpiling
waste material. See section III for further discussion.
Culvert C-3 was blocked again.
