Zack of the ORMS as part of the
routine monitoring and inspection protocol. Darryl Schulz of Otero County (Engineering)was present during this inspection. The
pit is located 2.25 miles west of Manzanola, CO on County Road JJ.5, and currently consists of approximately 230 acres.
On June 6, 2007, the Division received a request to release aone-acre section of this pit. During the inspection pertormed on
April 24, 2007, this portion of the site had not appeared to have been disturbed. Therefore, it is the determination of this
inspector that this portion of the site can be released back to the county for an alternate use. Notice of this determination will be
sent under separate cover.
Mine entrance sign and permit boundary markers were all in place. All activities and completed work at the time of inspection
appeared to follow the guidelines and regulations set forth by the state and the approved mining and reclamation plans for the
pit, and no problems are noted for this site.
The site is stable, and no disturbance was observed outside of the approved permit boundaries.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Deb E.
