III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE <br />Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made during <br />the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the <br />facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action. <br />This was a partial inspection of the Coal Gulch Mine conducted by Tom Kaldenbach and Tom Gillis of the <br />Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology. No one else was present. <br />The permit for this mine was revoked more than 10 years ago. DMG's IML program had reclamation work done <br />on the site in September 1994. <br />Vehicle access from Hwy. 160 into the Coal Gulch site was blocked with a cable. The Bound was dry. <br />Hvdroloaic Balance <br />The lower pond was dry. As mentioned in past inspection reports, the lower pond has the remnants of the inlet of <br />a primary spillway culvert, but the outlet on the outslope of the embankment could not be found. <br />Slides and Damaee <br />No slope stability problems or new erosion were evident. <br />Reclamation Success <br />There is a fair amount of vegetation cover on the disturbed areas, and several patches of thistle that cover several <br />hundred square feet on the site. <br />
