if
III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection
and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
On the twenty fifth of July, 1997, William J. Carter from the Division of Minerals and Geology
performed a complete inspection of the Ohio Creek # 2 Mine in Gunnision County. This is a revoked
mine and therefore no company representative was present. During this inspection the weather was
cleaz and warm.
Availability of Records:
The records were reviewed at the Gunnison County Courthouse and were found to be complete.
Roads:
The Gunnison County Road leading to the mine site was in good and stable condition.
Hydrologic Balance:
• The sedimentation pond and ditches were dry at the time of this inspection.
• Cattle have grazed both inside and outside of the pond structure.
• Seepage noted during the May inspection has subsided for now.
• One of the collection ditches has a small washout that was missed during the May inspection, if
possible this will be corrected in August.
Topsoil:
• The topsoil pile is stable and well vegetated.
• Cattle have extensively grazed the topsoil pile this spring.
Revegetation•
Much more of the fall planted seed has germinated, and appears to be doing well at this time.
Slides and Damaee:
No additional erosion damage appears to have occurred over the past two months. The site in general
appears to be stable at this time.
