The site is a 26 <br />acres 112 sand and gravel operation located about 3 miles Northeast of Las <br />Animas, CO. <br />Site was not active at the time of the inspection, and according to Mr. <br />Dornell who was present during the inspection, site was utilized in <br />2006.There were some processed stockpiled materials located along the south <br />side of the main pit area. The area had received measurable rainfall the <br />night before which was evident in the pit area. Small amounts of water were <br />noted collected in the depressed area of the permit. <br />Entire permit area was walked and inspected, no noxious weed infestation <br />noted. <br />As small screened material was noted along the east side of the permit. <br />According to Mr. Dornell, the county contracts the screening and crushing <br />operation on site when material is needed for road maintenance. There was <br />some disturbance noted outside the permit area. <br />Mr. Dornell stated that the disturbance noted outside the permit area was <br />caused by the land owner and that it was not associated with the county's <br />permitted operation.
