Zack of the
DRMS. Rudy Torres of Riverside Aggregates, L.L.C. was present during this inspection. The pit is located 5 miles southeast of
McClave, CO, and currently consists of approximately 9.9 acres where approximately 9.9 acres appear to be in the process of
reclamation. This site is situated on an old alluvial terrace of the Arkansas River, and sites just north of the active channel of the
river. Access to the site is through a locked gate on the south side of the road, east of the intersection of County Roads JJ and
30.
The mine entrance identification sign should be replaced per Rule 3.1.12(1)(c) (see Problem No. 1 listed on page 3). All permit
boundary markers are all in place, and it appears that the southern portion of the site has been regraded to an acceptable slope
(see regraded area in photo 2). Portions of the pit were holding surface water at the time of this inspection, and the operator
stated that all of these holes would be filled in with the remaining overburden once reclamation begins on these portions of the
pit (see photo 1). In addition, a few Tamarisk were observed during this inspection on portions of the site where reclamation
had not begun, and the operator committed verbally to excavating these plants once reclamation commences on these areas
(see photo 2). The operator is reminded that this site will not be released if Tamarisk is found on site, and must, therefore, be
removed prior to financial warranty release. As previously stated, reclamation appears to have begun on portions of this site,
although it is difficult to clearly determine whether or not reseeding has been conducted on the regraded/flattened portions of
the site. All activities and completed work at the time of inspection appeared to follow the guidelines and regulations set forth
by the state and the mining and reclamation plans for the pit, and no additional problems are noted for this site. The site is
stable and no disturbance was observed outside of the approved permit boundaries.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Deb E. Zack at the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety,
Denver Office, 1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver, Colorado 80203, phone number 303-866-4179.
I & E Contact Address cc;
^ CE
NAME Mr. Rudv Torres ^ BL
OPERATOR Riverside Aagregates.
