The site Is operated by Ca Plata Couuty who took over the alto through <br />a succesalou of operator process In 1985. At that tlme there wsa approrimately 5.8 acres dlemrbed which had already beau mlued of the gravel. <br />La Pinta Couuty purchased the 37.9 acre tract that the pit Dee wlthlu and has been using this alts se sue of tbelr male sources of gravel ever since. <br />The county bas beau dumplug grnbbed vegetatlou, damaged culverts, e>'.cavated 1111 dirt from road proJecta, and other constrnctlou materials oft o[ <br />the permit ana os the west side or the pit.
