i
I
III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the
inspection and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a complete inspection of the King Coa! Mine for the month of August, 1997.
RECORDS: Records were inspected and found to be in compliance. Further details of the records
inspection can be found on page 5 of this report.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE: The site is in excellent condition. All culverts and ditches were
inspected and found to be clear and capable of functioning as designed. Both ponds had water
in them but were not discharging. The ponds are stable, well vegetated and will function as
designed.
GENERAL MINE COMPLIANCE: The site is well maintained and erosionally stable. The new airjig
was in operation at this time, however, it was still in the adjustment phase and not running at
capacity. Dust did not seem to be a problem.
EXCESS SPOILS AND DEVELOPMENT WASTE: The waste pile is stable and all water is diverted
off the top and into designed ditches. The pile has reached its designed capacity. New designs
to extend the pile were reviewed with Tom Bird, Trent Peterson, Don May, Cynthia Bear, and
Harry Ranney present during the meeting. All aspects of the designs were discussed and the
revision was hand carried to the Division for final review.
